Improsounds offers a complete program of the main aspects of contemporary music.
We teach the fields of arranging, improvisation, ensembles and instrument technique in a friendly, supportive atmosphere. Our ultimate goal is to provide students with the tools to develop their own musical talent and personality, regardless of the style or instrument..
Private lessons are approached from a practical perspective and are designed to suit any style or musical experience.
Arranging lessons teach students how to write for every instrument in a band. During the course special emphasis is put on developing and composing introductions, sections and endings.
A highly practical approach is taken to improvisation techniques. So that the concepts can be directly applied, lessons are run with instruments to hand. The program covers motif development and solo structure based on jazz and improvisation of other contemporary styles.
The ensemble is the vehicle that enables students to bring theory into a real playing situation. Features of different styles are explained with a focus on tightening the band's sound. Groove development and learning how to rehearse in a group are the main objectives.
The jam session is the perfect ending to the course and an excellent opportunity for students to share the stage with our experienced teachers. But above all, it is a chance for them to show the audience what they have learned during the course and to display their musical talent.
